In 1973 a 9 year old boy wrote to the iconic UK young people’s “make & do” TV programme “Blue Peter” (famed for being able to build almost anything out of sticky back plastic, egg boxes & cardboard tubes from toilet rolls).
The positive response from the programme’s editor (the late Biddy Baxter) encouraged him to pursue a career in medical research.
