Lotus 43

Model by Italian manufacturer Politoys in their ‘Penny’ series. Lotus 43-BRM. The original was driven in only five races in 1966-1967 finishing only one of them, the 1966 American GP, which it won in the hands of Jim Clark.

This is about 1:60 scale and via eBay for virtually no money.

Two Matchbox 1-75 series No.52a (1st issue) Maserati 4CLTs; production 1958-1965. Came as a pair for less than £5. Both colours are factory original but the red one has been touched in, in parts and the decals messed with. The yellow one came without decals or driver but replacements have been obtained. Original plan was to only keep one but the yellow one has wire wheels and the red one was more or less complete. So, after refurbishment ended up keeping both. Approximately 1:60 scale.

Toys (again).

Another trip up to the village to visit the Toyfair, yielded a fair number of new items.

An early 1950s Dinky Toys Talbot Lago, racing car, in fair, playworn condition. A 1/76 Volvo tractor, 1950s, Hornby Dublo 3 rail wagon, 1960s Playcraft Jouef wagon & a 1950s Hornby 3 rail turn out. Total £15.75. Most satisfactory.

The Talbot has been subjected to some minor restoration…basically new number decals.

& a touch of white paint to the driver’s headgear.

It completes my set of the six Dinky racing cars of the 1950s….

From L-R Talbot, Alfa Romeo, Cooper Bristol, HWM, Ferrari (in blue!) & Maserati.

There was also a Vanwall but that was a  of different series/sequence & does not really go with the earlier models, & a generic “streamliner”, which is not all that sought after.
